Imaging

detailed program

organisation: F. Marone, A. Kaestner, M. Stampanoni

duration: 0.5 days

location: OSGA/E6

scope:

Imaging methods based on radiography and computed tomography using neutrons and X-rays are an important tool for obtaining, in a non-destructive way, quantitative two-, three-, and four-dimensional complementary information on a variety of systems ranging from metals to energy sources, highly-relevant environmental samples and biological materials. Ongoing efforts aim at making new challenging experiments possible. In particular, the combination of new detectors, acquisition schemes and data processing methods is pushing the imaging performance spatially as well as temporally. Moreover, phase contrast techniques proved to be essential for many biological applications and are becoming a routine tool available to the user community. Finally, several new investigations profit from the complementary information provided by dual-beam (X-ray and neutron) imaging experiments.

The scope of the workshop includes:

  • Applications of neutron and X-ray imaging.
  • Processing methods for data evaluation.
  • Recent instrument developments.
