The conference will offer a rich social program, which includes a reception on the evening of Sunday, June 1st, as well as a conference banquet held on the evening of Wednesday, June 4th.  Long lunch breaks on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday will allow the participants to enjoy the wonderful nature and culture of Grindelwald and the surrounding area. In addition and depending on interest (more than 10 participants), we will also organize a visit to the Jungfraujoch on Saturday 7 June (after the conference). Please indicate your interest in participation on the registration form.

An excursion will be organized for the afternoon of Wednesday, June 4th. The cost of this excursion is included in the conference registration fee. Three options are available for participants and registered accompanying persons:
  • Panoramaweg Männlichen – Kleine Scheidegg (recommended):
The extraordinary high-altitude trail is a must for mountain enthusiasts. A good hour-long hike for suitable for all ages. From Männlichen to 2230 meters above sea level, you follow the easy and pushchair-friendly high-altitude trail southward to the Kleine Scheidegg. The triple peaks always in sight, right and left, the valleys of Grindelwald and Lauterbrunnen in perspective, and beyond that the foothills of the Alps with Lake Thun. This is the place where mountain dreams come true.
  • Swiss open-air Ballenberg Museum (cancelled due to lack of interest):
A stroll through the past. More than one hundred century-old buildings from all over Switzerland, 250 farmyard animals, traditional, old-time gardens and fields, demonstrations of local crafts and many special events create a vivid impression of rural life in days gone by.
  • Trümmelbach waterfalls (min 10, max 41 participants):
Unique glacial waterfalls inside the mountain that are accessible by a tunnel lift. Trümmelbach alone drains the enormous glacial walls of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau.
