Dielectric laser accelerators (DLAs) are nano-photonic structures which are designed to resonantly transfer energy from a driving laser to electrons.
This talk will first introduce the concept of DLAs and cover related experiments performed with the ACHIP chamber at SwissFEL.
The experiments cover beam tomography with a nano-fabricated wires, wake fields in dielectric double gratings, and coherent THz generation using the Smith-Purcell effect in an inverse-designed photonic structure. Prospects how these concepts could enhance capabilities of SwissFEL are outlined.
