UKs national synchrotron light source, Diamond, will undergo an extensive upgrade to maximise the scientific impact of the facility. The heart of the project is a new multi-bend achromat lattice which will decrease the beam emittance by a factor 17-26, while doubling the number of straight sections for insertion devices. Additionally, a completely new booster synchrotron will be built to accommodate the needs of the new storage ring.
This seminar will present the main features of Diamond-II, key aspects of the accelerator physics design and expected performance of the new Diamond-II machines, highlighting challenges and their solutions. A special emphasis will be on the employed injection schemes.
