Description

The European Spallation Source is developing the next generation of user office software in collaboration with STFC. Handling proposal submission and review as well as experiment scheduling and sample safety declaration the software will address many of the tasks required of the user office for research infrastructures.

The software builds on existing user office software packages, addressing the need for dynamic content, configurable proposal workflows, API first and mobile compatibility. From its inception, the guiding design principle has been to be transparent to the facility: with flexibility and adaptability to allow the software to be used in a number of settings without significant time or cost consuming development work.

In this presentation we will showcase some of the design decisions and technology choices made to achieve the above mentioned goals and the challenges that come with them. We will also outline the roadmap for future development and present our vision of a seamless user journey through a facility.
