Analysis discussion meeting

Europe/Zurich

Andreas:

Preparation for experiments:

End of July, people will go to PSI to intall detectors --> Leuven detectors are still a bit uncertain

More LN2 equipment has to be installed at PSI to accomodate for all of the autofilling

The number of positively HV biased detectors has to be counted. If to many, use an additional NIM unit. --> Randolf has a remote control 4 channel unit

Confirm the LN2 controller box functionalities --> muX controller is only enough for filling 12 detectors

Michael:

RBS on implanted samples:

There seems to be oxygen present in the foils, potentially always there at the grain boundaries of the glassy carbon --> Michael will arrange a measurement of an "empty" sample

For now the spectra of the implanted spectrum doesn't show anything dramatic, but a proper analysis is still ongoing --> Michael will follow up with this

RADIATE proposal for gold (200 keV) and potassium (30 keV) implanted samples will be submitted very soon. Potentially a 40 keV sample can be made if the Leuven High-Current Implanter is again operational in time for the campaign.

Neutron Analysis:

Double tails (see meeting earlier) are caused by discrete timing effects. Sometimes only a single datapoint is present in the leading edge for overflow events. Bad overflows cut out (for now), leaves a nice PSD plot with only a slight extra broadening.

Suggestion FW - Use template fits to get pseudo continous time pulses --> Michael will follow up with this

Frederik:

The muX DAQ is now up and running

Access via PSI account --> Everyone should check if they have access

Skeleton is present, but some things remain to be done --> Nilesh, Katharina and Michael will most likely all get involved with this soon.

Neutron detectors this year? --> Yes, even if it is just to learn how to use them. Calibration runs with only a single gamma source at a time for easier Compton edge assignment

Nilesh:

Efficiency at high energy:

Using coincidences in the cascade

Real coincidence peak in overlap with the transition of interest --> Attempt to quantify relative fraction

Changed the energy window to obtain the number of counts from "bad coincidences" and extrapolate --> Nilesh will investigate more energy windows (especially negative ones).

Andreas:

Surface references for 2022 campaign:

Gold deposition has been performed nicely

For potassium, admixture of argon in the hydrogen cell could be useful

Potassium-salt surface deposition would be ideal for a surface mass reference, but might not be possible at PSI --> Michael will try to find plausible methods

Alternatively chromium surface deposition can be used (possible at PSI)

There are minutes attached to this event. Show them.
