Description
The Brazilian Synchrotron Light Source has been in routine operation for users since July 1997. The Source is based on a 1.37 GeV electron storage ring with a 120 MeV linear accelerator and a 500 MeV booster synchrotron injector. In this talk, I will present a brief history of the project, an overview of the technical characteristics of the machine and its major subsystems, and describe a few highlights of the Accelerator Science and Technology design and construction efforts that have allowed all LNLS light source design performance parameters to be met or surpassed over the past ten years. Finally, I will also briefly describe the outlook and perspectives for the future of LNLS.
