Description
DESY's former accelerator PETRA II has been converted into a hard x-ray, high brilliant light source called PETRA III. The new light source operates at an energy of 6 GeV and a very small horizontal emittance of 1 nmrad. The current should be 100 mA. The conversion was carried out from July 2007 till spring 2009. Commissio-ning started shortly before Easter 2009 and at the end of that year the machine was operated for friendly users for the first time. In this talk the parameters and the conversion process of PETRA III will be briefly presented and results gained during commissioning and user ope-ration will be given. Contact: Mike Seidel (3378)
