Preliminay Programme

The Small Angle Scattering Tensor Tomography (SASTT) school, to be held at the Paul Scherrer Institute in Villigen, Switzerland, will give an in-depth introduction to SASTT. We will start with a general introduction to computed tomography (CT), small angle X-ray scattering (SAXS) and scanning SAXS before we go through SAXS tensor tomography, where we will cover the theoretical background, experimental implementation, reconstruction algorithms, analysis and visualizations. In particular, we will look into reconstruction using our open-source software package MUMOTT (mumott.org) in tutorials and hands-on sessions, which also include practical setups at two SLS beamlines. As a small group project, the students will focus on writing a mock proposal for obtaining beamtime which will be evaluated at the end of the school. The week will be completed by presentations of selected scientific cases using SASTT and texture tomography.
