    20min of Presentation (Vincent)
    40min of Discussion

@hardion: If available, Vincent could present a rough timeline for the merging of the ESS branch into the community NICOS. Of particular interest: What is needed when from MLZ/FZJ and PSI to enable this merge?

    20min of Presentation (Hanno)
    40min of Discussion

@hperrey: Based on Hannos presentation on 27.01.2026, we could have a more in-depth presentation including slides for documentation?

    Testing and validation strategies

What are strategies to test and validate NICOS at facilities before deploying at beamlines? For example, do you have a process in place that you follow before major releases, Python version changes or other changes that could have unexpected side-effects? Have you developed dedicated hardware of software platforms to run such tests on? "Testing" refers more...

    Presentation and Discussion

    • Why are the current interface classes a good base
    • Why are there "do" methods for usermethods
    • Why new usermethods should have a good reason to exist
    • Using good parameter types for easier life
    • Using the correct valuetype for devices
    • Dry run and what "hardware_access" means
    • Mixins and inheritance
    • Parameter overrides
