DESCRIPTION:Speakers: Maria Grazia Giuffreda (CSCS)\, Gilles Fourestey (EP
FL)\n\nOverview:\nImproving Access to High-Performance Computing (HPC) foc
uses on making powerful computing resources more available to a wider rang
e of users. Currently\, access is limited by high costs\, technical comple
xity\, and a lack of skills.\nTo address this\, efforts should focus on ex
panding shared infrastructure and resource availability\, improving educat
ion and training so more people can use these systems effectively\, and cr
eating supportive policies and funding models to reduce financial barriers
. Additionally\, making software more user-friendly and encouraging collab
oration and resource sharing can further broaden access.\nOverall\, improv
ing access to HPC means making it easier\, more affordable\, and more incl
usive for everyone to benefit from advanced computing.\nKey Questions:\n\n
What are the main barriers (technical\, financial\, and educational) that
limit access to High-Performance Computing for researchers and organizatio
ns?\nHow can cloud-based HPC services help improve accessibility compared
to traditional on-premises supercomputing systems\nHow can institutions be
tter prepare users to utilize these resources effectively?\nIn what ways c
an software tools\, interfaces\, and automation reduce the complexity of u
sing HPC systems for non-expert users?\nHow can international collaboratio
n and shared HPC infrastructures (e.g.\, research networks or consortia) i
mprove equitable access to computing power?\n\n\nhttps://indico.psi.ch/eve
