Description
In software development, integrated development environments (IDEs) are commonly used to combine development tools in a user-friendly environment, resulting in improved efficiency and a lower barrier to entry for new developers. In the research software engineering community, a similar concept is emerging, focused on creating integrated environments that meet the needs of scientists. This talk will present ongoing work to develop an integrated science environment (ISE) for accelerator physics at HZB. It will cover centralized software maintenance, easy access to high-performance computing resources, the use of containers for reproducibility and deployment, simulation and control room environments, digital twins, as well as future plans for data management and integration of AI tools.
