An overview of Materials Cloud - Development, Future plans and considerations

As Materials Cloud has matured over the years, this talk will highlight the overarching vision of the platform. In particular, it will provide an overview of the platform's key sections, the tasks they are intended to support, and their role in advancing FAIR and Open Science principles.

The presentation will also focus on our flagship dataset, MC3D, providing a high-level overview of the techniques and infrastructure that underpin the platform and enable both programmatic and web-based access to gigabytes of scientific data.

The talk will conclude with a discussion of the outstanding challenges facing the platform, as well as the anticipated difficulties and opportunities involved in addressing them in the years ahead.
