DESCRIPTION:Speakers: Maria Grazia Giuffreda (CSCS)\, Julia Gustavsen (Agr
 oscope)\n\nTopic Description\nAs scientific computing services evolve\, HP
C centers are increasingly asked to support not only computational infrast
ructure\, but also the diverse workflows\, skills\, and expectations of th
eir users. Researchers may arrive with very different levels of experience
\, from first-time HPC users to advanced users developing complex\, automa
ted\, and reproducible workflows.Participants will discuss how HPC centers
can better understand what users need\, what they are actually doing\, an
d how services can support them in ways that are useful for researchers an
 d sustainable for institutions.\nKey Questions\nReproducible Research\n\nH
ow can HPC centers encourage users to adopt practices and tools that suppo
rt reproducible research? Examples may include version control\, container
 s\, workflow managers\, environment management\, etc.\n\nUser Documentatio
n and Collaborative Documentation\n\nHow can user documentation be provide
d in a way that is sustainable for service providers and easy for users to
find\, understand\, and apply?\nHow can documentation help set appropriat
e expectations about the competencies required from users and the support
provided? \n\nUser Support\n\nWhat support models work well for HPC users
beyond traditional ticketing systems?\nAre centers experimenting with off
 ice hours\, co-working sessions\, workshops\, user communities\, or other
formats?\nHow can support models balance responsiveness\, scalability\, an
d user empowerment? \n\nEnd-User Service Fulfilment\n\nHow can centers si
mplify and improve processes such as resource allocation\, account creatio
n\, access to software environments\, and service requests?\nWhat role can
  automation\, container images\, predefined environments\, accounting syst
ems\, and service catalogue items play?\nHow can service fulfilment be mad
e efficient for both users and providers? \n\nPortfolio Management for En
d Users in Hybrid or Multi-Service Environments\n\nHow can providers prese
nt a coherent service portfolio when users may need access to clusters\, c
 loud resources\, storage\, applications\, portals\, or specialized platfor
ms?\nHow can complexity be abstracted away while still allowing services t
o be customized or adapted to specific scientific needs? \n\nTraining Cou
rse Design and Evolution\n\nHow can training courses be designed to meet u
sers at different levels of experience? Or should they? How do we design t
he appropriate portfolio of courses to offer?\nHow can training evolve alo
ngside changing services\, tools\, and scientific workflows?\n\nWho Should
Attend?\nThe forum is intended for professionals involved in HPC and scie
ntific computing services\, including HPC service providers\, support team
s\, research IT groups\, system administrators\, research software enginee
rs\, trainers\, service managers\, and others interested in improving the
user experience of scientific computing. It is especially relevant for th
ose looking to better understand their users\, improve support and documen
tation\, design effective training\, and develop sustainable services that
help researchers work efficiently and reproducibly.\n\nhttps://indico.psi
