The Advanced Research Electron Accelerator Laboratory (AREAL) at CANDLE Institute is based on a 5 MeV electron linac with photo-cathode RF gun, and performs research on solid state physics, radiation biophysics and micro-electronics.

An overview will be given on the accelerator and the research activities, and on ongoing and planned machine upgrades.
