SCIENCE USING IR SYNCHROTRON LIGHT, A USER’S PERSPECTIVE

THE WORKSHOP HAS SUCCESFULLY TAKEN PLACE

Overview

Synchrotron based infrared spectro-microscopy is a versatile non-destructive method used to perform microanalysis on a wide variety of samples, as diverse as artworks, tissue biopsies, archaeological artifacts, polymers and geological samples.

The technique provides insight on the molecular properties of microscopic phases such as the orientation and conformation of polymer chains, the stability of compound phases at high pressure and temperature, and the reactivity of crystalline particles, to name just a few.

Scope

In this workshop Investigators using this method shall illustrate the potential available at synchrotron facilities.

 Topics

  • Biomedical sciences
  • Geological sciences
  • Polymers
  • Conservation of cultural heritage
  • Catalysis

Registration

Registration is open from December 13, 2010 until January 21, 2011

Registration fee

There is no registration fee. A contribution of CHF 30.00 for the workshop dinner needs to be paid upon registration, by those who wish to participate.
