We are pleased to invite you to participate in an User Information Workshop for the SLS 2.0 (Swiss Light Source) upgrade program at the Paul Scherrer Institut, Villigen, Switzerland.
This virtual workshop will take place on 28th February 2022 from 09:30 to 17:30 CET.
In the webinar, the user community of the SLS will be provided with information and the timeline about the machine upgrade and the beamline upgrades and portfolio, including IT aspects. The webinar will finish with a roundtable discussion, where users will have the opportunity to ask specific questions and voice their own wishes.
The SLS 2.0 machine upgrade construction program will run over the period 2021-2025 and has a budget of approximately 100 MCHF from the Swiss government, which will be complemented by substantial additional funding from PSI and other sources. There will be two dark periods: the first from October 2023 to December 2024, in which the accelerator will be replaced with a multibend achromat lattice and approximately half of the beamlines will be refurbished; and a second during the first quarter of 2026, in which the second set of beamlines will be upgraded and two superconducting superbends will be installed.
