IFAST is an initiative from the European Union Horizon 2020 Research programme to develop the next generation of accelerator technologies. Crucial for future light sources is the continued development of electron sources to improve beam quality, in particular higher beam brightness, while also offering more compact and cost effective solutions. As part of the IFAST project, and in collaboration with INFN, PSI is involved in the design, realization, and low and high power RF testing of two high gradient C-band RF photoguns. Particularly notable to the contribution from PSI is a Travelling Wave RF photogun which will be the first of its kind fabricated and aims to achieve peak cathode gradients up to 200 MV/m. This talk will discuss the upcoming project, the recent developments in the project and possible outcomes, including a new injector for SwissFEL.
