Development of muonic X-ray spectrometer for element analysis

by Dr Megumi Niikura (RIKEN Nishina Center for Accelerator-Based Science)

Description

Low-energy muonic X-ray spectrometer for element analysis (µLeXSea) is now under development as for the standard detector at MuSIC-M1 at Research Center for Nuclear Study (RCNP), Osaka University. The detector system consists of high-purity germanium detectors with BGO Compton suppressors together with multi-wire proportional counter for three dimensional imaging of the element analysis with muon-induced X-ray emission (MIXE). The system can also be coupled with other ancillary detectors such as liquid scintillators for neutron detection and BaF2 scintillators for fast timing measurement of X-rays and gamma-rays. In the presentation, overview of the detector array will be introduced.
