Michael:
Potassium analysis:
- BLR correction method 1 does not impact resolution in the potassium runs.
- Gain drift correction on potassium runs --> Order of magnitude increase in stability
- For natural potassium hydroxide all np-1s lines are visible, and most likely some nd-2p as well.
- For implanted 2p-1s and most likely 3p-1s and 4p-1s. 3d-2p not visible at all.
- Searching for background lines for final recalibration --> Suggestion Frederik: subtract muon data from 1d histogram to get "background" spectrum with much higher statistics. Michael will follow up on this
Window transmission is about 55.11(109)% which is in good agreement to Sami's values.
Studies with pyrolytic graphite: Position of maximal retained fluence predicted well, but value not quite --> Reactions of the top layer potassium with air?
Meeting with iThemba labs:
- They seem excited and confident about making the K-40 sample for this year's campaign.
- Getting 100µg for nTOF is very unlikely, though potentially 50 could be done (should still be plenty).
- Possibility of molecular plating after implantation
- Reactivity of potassium --> Coat with 10 nm graphite
Stella:
Curium analysis:
- Remaining discrepancy of some hyperfine levels (6 keV in 2p-1s and 12 keV in 3p-1s)
- Potentially nuclear charge distribution parameter w? --> Stella will follow up on this
- Potentially octupole deformation --> unlikely
- Effect on charge radius has been taken into account for the errors, but this would surely help
Katharina:
- SDD stability: Over 10 days stable within ~1 channel --> excellent
- resolution: quite typical behavior
- Energy calibration --> Weird jump at the end of the dynamic range
- Li 2p-1s is quite off the expected position --> Due to calibration? Katharina will follow up on this
Andreas:
Some interest in muonic x rays of cesium for Bohr-Weisskopf effect
We would mainly gain in statistics and proper analysis of the systematics --> Factor 2-5 improvement probably
If some time during one of the beamtimes, we could measure for a shift or so.
Thomas:
