Cornell University currently develops the technologies for an x-ray light source based on an energy recovery linear accelerator (ERL) . This talk will introduce the project and summarize the progress made over the recent years with the focus being on the commissioning of our prototype ERL injector, in which we are now able to generate ultra-low emittance beams and world-record high beam currents
