Summary
AI and agentic AI are revolutionizing biomedical research and medicine, offering a critical path toward breakthrough discoveries and substantially improved patient care. This technological shift is profoundly transforming the practice of radiation oncology. In this presentation, I will first provide an overview of state-of-the-art AI, foundation models, and agentic systems, followed by an in-depth discussion on the pivotal role of these modern AI technologies in precision oncology. Furthermore, I will highlight ongoing research, the deployment challenges of AI in healthcare, and my perspectives on the future of AI in radiation therapy. Crucially, I will elaborate on the indispensable role of physics in developing next-generation AI models, as well as the evolving responsibilities of medical physicists in this digital healthcare revolution.
