Description
Transport and installation of particle accelerator equipment in restricted spaces presents many technical and organizational challenges. CERN’s Large Hadron Collider has been installed in an existing tunnel designed for the relatively small LEP (electron-positron collider) magnets. New and innova-tive solutions were needed to transport and install the bigger, heavier LHC machine elements. In this talk challenges and solutions from the Large Hadron Collider transport and installation work will be presen-ted along with some conclusions and recommenda-tions for future projects.
