      fast slits 10m

efficient slit scans for beam position measurements

      Speaker: David Marco Just

David presents a concept of a new front end slit with linear motors, absolute encoders  and a light- weight slit head to allow fast scanning. The slits should be particular useful for soft- Xray beamlines.

      • some discussion about pinhole scans or knife edge scans- agreement: to define an aperature 4 slit blades are required
      • hard X-ray beamlines seam to be satisfied with the existing slits
      • planned prototype installation SIM beamline mid 2020
      • the expected temperature at the blades is relative high 200C could cause vacuum problems, the expected repeatability is 5 mum
      • Claude: the temperature/cooling issue will be investigated in more detail

      remark from Wayne Sep 23:

      Dear David,

As an input to your Fast Slits development:

Cedrat presented at MEDSI 2018 several fast slit setups they're working on.
I put some pictures and videos on //scratch0/scratch/GW61
Their presentation can also be found under: http://accelconf.web.cern.ch/AccelConf/medsi2018/talks/thopma01_talk.pdf

      Just as an input.

      Electronics for feedback 20m
Speaker: Boris Keil (Paul Scherrer Institut)

the contribution had to be postponed (speaker sick)

    • 14:45 14:55
      SiC XBPM update 10m
      Speaker: Massimo Camarda

Massimo gave an update about the tests he did at X06SA. The monitor is installed in pink beam (in the optics hutch downstream of a diamond window).

      • the first system broke- now a new system works
      • vacuum: 1e-8mbar with beam
