Description

On Friday, February 21st, 2020 in Brussels, the first brainstorming meeting of European RIs took place with the aim to form a collaboration and tackle HE missions together.

The meeting can be summarized as follows:

  • A representative of each invited RI network gave a 20-minute presentation, reflecting how the network could support research under HE for the Missions and Global Challenges.
  • The LEAPS presentations were based on a position paper that was drafted on the LEAPS approach on mission based research.
  • A common discussion followed, in which the participants defined the mission-oriented topics that RI networks will address together. Further, the possibility to widen the discussion to additional RI networks was contemplated.
  • During the afternoon, the participants were divided into working groups with the aim to brainstorm on specific collaboration topics. Five working groups were formed and later reported on:
    • Cancer
    • Soil Health and Food
    • Climate-neutral and Smart Cities
    • Healthy Oceans, Seas, Coastal and Inland Waters
    • Adaptation to Climate Change incl. Societal Transformation
