On Friday, February 21st, 2020 in Brussels, the first brainstorming meeting of European RIs took place with the aim to form a collaboration and tackle HE missions together.
The meeting can be summarized as follows:
A representative of each invited RI network gave a 20-minute presentation, reflecting how the network could support research under HE for the Missions and Global Challenges.
The LEAPS presentations were based on a position paper that was drafted on the LEAPS approach on mission based research.
A common discussion followed, in which the participants defined the mission-oriented topics that RI networks will address together. Further, the possibility to widen the discussion to additional RI networks was contemplated.
During the afternoon, the participants were divided into working groups with the aim to brainstorm on specific collaboration topics. Five working groups were formed and later reported on:
Cancer
Soil Health and Food
Climate-neutral and Smart Cities
Healthy Oceans, Seas, Coastal and Inland Waters
Adaptation to Climate Change incl. Societal Transformation
