Description
We present a comparison of BPM electrical center calculations using the 2D electrostatic solver BpmLab and full 3D simulations in CST.
While BpmLab accurately reproduces electrostatic potentials for 2D geometries, it cannot capture the 3D field distortions introduced by realistic BPM button structures. As a result, discrepancies arise between 2D and 3D models, and in the presence of button displacements, 2D models systematically underestimate electrical offsets.
These results demonstrate that reliable prediction of BPM electrical centers in the presence of mechanical imperfections requires full 3D modeling
