Description
NSLS-II, the new 3GeV 3rdgeneration synchrotron light source under construction at BNL is in a well advanced stage of construction. The concrete and steel construction work of the storage ring building is completed and the first building pentant of the accelerator is already available for installation of the accelerator. The production of accelerator components has been started and many components are already available for installation. The turn-key linac will be installed and commissioned in the 2ndhalf of 2011 which will be followed by the installation and commissioning of the turn-key booster synchrotron. The storage ring commissioning will start in the spring of 2013.
The presentation will provide an overview of the design, will report on the challenges in producing high precision components and will give a general status of the construction project.
