Description
As part of the Physics Beyond Colliders study, CERN will repurpose an underground experimental area (ECN3) in the North Area to explore physics beyond the Standard Model through a new beam dump facility to house the Search for Hidden Particles (SHiP) experiment. The High Intensity ECN3 project aims to upgrade the current infrastructure and implement the systems required to deliver beam to the SHiP experiment. To achieve this purpose, the dismantling of the existing beam line, target, and the NA62 experiment is necessary. The project also involves constructing a new service building, a new target station, a new beam line, and adapting the existing services to meet modern standards and the specific needs of SHiP.
