Coronavirus

Please pay attention to the PSI policies concerning coronavirus outbreak 2020:


Starting in the city of Wuhan in central China, there has been an extraordinary increase in pneumonia primarily in China since January. These are caused by a previously unknown coronavirus (2019-nCoV).
Details on the situation in China, as well as the risk and measures for Switzerland can be found on the website of the Federal Office of Public Health (http://www.bag.admin.ch/2019-ncov).

Employees returning from a coronavirus risk area (as defined py PSI, see below) must initially work in home office for two weeks after their return. If they remain symptom-free during this time, the normal activity at PSI can be resumed.

Furthermore, visitors from a coronavirus risk areas are not allowed to visit PSI until further notice. This also applies if a person visited or had a stopover in these areas within the last 14 days.

Peoples Republic of China (incl. Hongkong)
South Korea
Singapore
Japan
Iran
Italy (Lombardy, Veneto, Piedmont)

In general, we recommend the usual precautionary measures, also with regard to the annual wave of influenza:

  • Wash your hands regularly;
  • Good respiratory hygiene - cover mouth and nose with the crook of your arm when coughing or sneezing, use handkerchiefs and dispose of them immediately;
  • Avoid close contact with sick people;
  • People who feel unwell, have fever or other influenza symptoms are advised to stay at home.
