In very rural areas like Villigen the shops and restaurants including the PSI canteen are closed on Sundays. Students staying at the guesthouse have the possibility to buy a limited selection of food from the vending machines in the cafeteria “Time Out .“
You can shop groceries at larger railway stations (e.g. Zurich airport, Zurich Main Station, Baden or Brugg) or nearby petrol stations in Würenlingen, Brugg or Döttingen.
There is a choice of several restaurants in Brugg. The restaurant at Hotel Schloss Böttstein is also open on Sundays and can by reached from PSI by bus in 3 minutes and on foot in ~ 35 minutes.
Please be aware that buses run on Sunday timetables, i.e. ceasing regular evening service earier, see the public transport time table.
By public transport
Nearest railway stations are Brugg (fast train stop) and Siggenthal-Würenlingen. There are bus services twice an hour, more frequently during morning and evening rush hours, from the two stations to PSI West.
From Brugg take bus number 376 in the direction of Döttingen, get off at PSI West (travelling time approx. 18 minutes).
From Siggenthal-Würenlingen take bus number 357 in the direction of Brugg, get off at PSI West (travelling time approx. 10 minutes). By plane
Nearest international airports
Pay-and-display car parking is available for school participants. We advise that you allow sufficient time for a walk of up to ten minutes from the car park to get to your destination on the campus. You can leave your luggage at the PSI Reception West.
Disabled parking spaces are available close to the entrance of the Swiss Light Source.
Please refer to the scientific programme for the room allocation. All meeting rooms will also be signposted from Reception West.
Registration & dosimeter hand-out
The school registration opens at 09:15 on 22 August in the foyer of building WHGA (look for the Red Mammoth in front of the entrance).
The location will also be signposted from the bus stop PSI West, the car park entrance and Reception West.
Pre installation of programmes for the data analysis sessions
The attendees are supposed to carry with them their own laptop, in order to fully profit from the practical data analysis sessions. We strongly advise to try to install the programs whose demos you are interested to follow in advance!! For further details please visit the technical information page.
WIFI
You can use Eduroam (education roaming) at PSI. The official Eduroam site Interactive Eduroam Map Standard Windows Devices get the configuration automatically. For Non-standard devices get the configuration on https://www.eduroam.org/. Please note that support for guests is provided by their home institutions. For non-eduroam userers a WIFI code be available as from Monday morning.
