Description
BeMa 2014
This meeting is organized by the EuCARD2 XBEAM-XRING Network. This is the second workshop involving the communities of beam dynamics experts and magnet engineers. This particular workshop brings together two different accelerator communities, those working on HEP circular colliders and those working on machines using low emittance lattices such as synchrotron light sources and Free Electron Lasers. This workshop will focus on discussions about the main technological problems of these types of accelerators with the aim of promoting interactions amongst people in various labs and institutions and so favoring a better understanding of the mutual needs of beam dynamics experts and magnet engineers. The content of the workshop will use concrete projects, realized in the past, or in development now, to clarify the common requirements in the theoretical, experimental and design areas and thus to build bridges between different research activities. Through talks by physicists and engineers from various projects we will compare their lines of development, discover the different aspects of their next challenges and encourage international synergies. The workshop will profit from the experiences of colleagues who have designed, built and commissioned existing facilities and from the concerns of colleagues involved in the R & D of similar future accelerators.
The format will be a discussion workshop rather than a mini-conference. The workshop will be composed of oral contributions and will address the following topics:
Beam dynamics requirements and design challenges for accelerator magnets and insertion devices
Beam based alignment and magnet fiducialisation
Magnet specifications and field measurement limitations
Upcoming challenges in magnet technology for Free Electron Lasers
Achievements and challenges in the interactions between magnet design and beam dynamics
The meeting will take place in the Park-Hotel, Bad Zurzach, (near Zurich), Switzerland from 1st to 4th of December 2014. You are invited to present your proposal for a workshop talk to the chairmen of the workshop or to any member of the International Advisory Committee by October 1st 2014.
Thanks to our sponsors, we will start the workshop with a welcome reception on Sunday, 30 November 2014, at 18:00. The registration will be open at the same time.
